Resource: Palestinian Literature Arabic Podcast

تَضاؤُل

root: ض-ء-ل / form VI verbal noun / definition: waning

It’s an unseasonably warm evening here in London and I’m feeling grateful for this flare of heat that’s allaying the melancholy that inevitably arises from the waning of summer.

But with my graduate school inductions beginning in less than two weeks, I sit here with one of the primary sources for my PhD research and remind myself that September quietly announced its arrival over a week ago.

My research is centred around three Arabic novels, so I decided it’s time to immerse myself in some more literature-related things. And one of those things is an Arabic podcast that I’ve newly discovered.

The Country of Words podcast by PalREAD is a ten-episode project centred around Palestinian literature, featuring prominent guests.

I have to admit that I’ve only listened to the first episode so far (yesterday, I think) but, just from that, I knew that this was a resource worth sharing.

And if you’re keen to discover more Arabic podcasts and listening resources, you should check out the following posts:

There’s also another great listening resource for those interested in Arabic dialects that I’m excited to share with you soon!

If you’ve been keeping up with the Wehr Wednesdays series, you’ll know that we’ve reached our 201st Wednesday post, with the phrase سارية من الجهامة—have a read of it here.

Back to my reading now…
