New Hats, and More Wednesday Writings

دَوْر

root: د-و-ر / noun / plural: أَدْوار / definition: role

What’s new? Well, quite a lot.

I’ve found myself, as we tick through month one of twenty-twenty-six, switching between several roles—with my work placement, consultation sessions, study, and new endeavours. (I also keep meaning to set a date for my workshop; let me know if you’d like to join!)

And maybe switching isn’t the right word, because everything—in my head at least—is happening all at once. I occasionally flick open the tab of flights on my browser, tempted by the idea of a weekend of long walks on the beach somewhere warm(er), just to mellow my thoughts.

But it’s nearly Wednesday, so my thoughts continue to sprint:

For over six years now—since I started this blog and launched the Wehr Wednesdays series—I’ve been counting weeks by their Wednesdays. A week, for me, is that run of 168 hours from one Wednesday to the next.

And now, it’s not just writing my Wehr Wednesdays posts that punctuates my weeks but, as part of my work placement, I’m choosing and introducing one Arabic poem (translated into English) every Wednesday.

If you’re interested in Arabic poetry, subscribe to the ArabLit Poetry newsletter to get a poem delivered to your inbox every week.

Despite being so busy, my brain fog I mentioned last week seems to be ebbing away. Maybe I’m slowly settling into my new and chaotic routine.

Or maybe it’s just the new lens wipes I got for my glasses that are clearing the fog. Who knows.

!مع السلامة
