Wehr Wednesdays #83

A new word or phrase from the Hans Wehr dictionary, every Wednesday.


برشم baršama to stare, gaze (إلى at s.th.); to rivet (هـ s.th.)


Root: ب-ر-ش-م

Page: 65*

Example: “بَرْشَمْتُ إلَيهِ حَتّى لاحَظَني”

Translation: “I stared at him until he noticed me”



Notes:

  • برشم is a form I quadriliteral verb (see this post about verb forms for four-letter roots!), whose verbal noun is البَرشَمَة.
