سارية من الجهامة an all-pervading gloom

Example: “وَفي غِيابِهِ، جَثَمَتْ سارِيَةٌ مِنَ الجَهامةِ على البَيت”

Translation: “and in his absence, an all-pervading gloom descended upon the house”


Notes:

  • With the verb جَثَمَ in the example sentence, I’m reminded of the phrase we looked at in Wehr Wednesdays #28!
