A new word or phrase from the Hans Wehr dictionary, every Wednesday.


ناء بكلكله to oppress s.o. gravely, weigh heavily upon s.o.


Root: ك-ل-ك-ل

Page: 981*

Example: “تِلكَ الأفكارُ التي لا مَفَرَّ مِنها ناءَت بِكَلكَلِها”

Translation: “those inescapable thoughts weighed heavily upon her”

This phrase reminds me of the one we saw in Wehr Wednesdays #28!
