Wehr Wednesdays #51

A new word or phrase from the Hans Wehr dictionary, every Wednesday.


جرؤ jaru’a u (جرأة jur’a, جراءة jarā’a) to dare, venture, risk, hazard (على s.th.), take the risk (على of, أن of doing s.th.), have the courage (على for s.th.)


Root: ج-ر-ء

Page: 140*

Example: “لَن أَجْرُؤَ على الدِّراسةِ هُناك”

Translation: “I wouldn’t dare to study there”
