أرهف الأذن (uḏn) to prick up one’s ears (لفلان so as to catch the words of s.o.)


Root: ر-ه-ف

Example: “وَقَفَ بِلا حَراك وَأَرهَفَ الأُذْنَ لَها مِن وَراءِ الباب”

Translation: “he stood motionless and pricked up his ears to catch her words from behind the door”


Notes:

  • أَرهَفَ / يُرهِفُ is a form IV verb!
