Example: “وَقَرَ في نَفْسِها أَنَّ هذا كانَ خِطَّتَهُم مِن البِداية—لكنَّ أَخاها لَمْ يَكْن مُقتَنِعًا”
Translation: “to her, it was an established fact that this was their plan from the start—but her brother wasn’t convinced”
Notes:
- The two phrases وقر في نفسه and وقر في خلده carry the same meaning. The word خَلَد means “mind” or “heart”—see Five Arabic Words for the Metaphorical Heart for similar nouns!
- The assimilated form I verb وَقَرَ / يَقِرُ means “to be settled” or “to be an established fact”
