أمر لا يؤبه له (yu’bahu) an insignificant, unimportant matter

Example: “وَحينَما كَلَّمْتُهُ بِصراحةٍ عَمّا شَعَرتُ بِهِ، غَيَّرَ مَوْضوعَ الحَديثِ وَكَأَنَّ مَشاعِري أَمَرٌ لا يُؤبَهُ لَه”

Translation: “when I spoke to him openly about how I felt, he changed the subject as though my feelings were insignificant”


Notes:

  • The verb in this phrase, يُؤبَهُ, is the passive, present tense conjugation of the hamzated, form I verb أَبَهَ (أَبِهَ) / يَأبَهُ. For more about the writing conventions of the letter hamza, see Seats of the Hamza (ء)!
