Example: “طِوالَ مُحادَثَتِهِما، أَوْجَسَتْ فيهِ المَلَلَ—لكِنَّها اِستَمَرَّتْ في الكَلامِ مَخافةً أَنَّها سَتَكونُ المُحادَثةَ الأَخيرةَ بَينَهُما”

Translation: “throughout their conversation, she sensed his boredom—but she kept talking, afraid that it would be the last conversation between them”

  1. Al-salām ʿalaykum, In structures similar to مخافةً أَنَّهَا, I’ve seen the voweling printed as and heard it read as مخافةَ أَنَّ with iḍāfa. I’m still looking for source for such a reading, which one should be able to find in any iʿrāb of a classical text. Have you seen this discussion anywhere?

      I’ve also seen both ways of writing/pronouncing this phrase but am not aware of any source explaining this in particular. Let me know if you find out and I’ll come back to your comment if I find a good explanation!
